Si analizza il comportamento meccanico di un’argilla a scaglie compattata non satura sottoposta, in un edometro a suzione controllata, a tre distinte serie di cicli di imbibizione ed essiccamento a pressione verticale netta costante. Ciascuna serie è stata preceduta da differenti percorsi di carico e scarico a suzione costante, allo scopo di studiare gli effetti del percorso delle sollecitazioni sulle deformazioni volumetriche e sulle variazioni di contenuto d’acqua indotte dalle variazioni cicliche della suzione.

Simplified analytical models for compressed concrete columns confined by FRP and FRCM system

In order to consider the response of concrete columns confined by FRP and FRCM system, proper models have to be formulated. In this context the present paper shows a generalized criterion for the determination of the increase in strength, in ductility and in dissipated energy for varying corner radius ratio of the cross section and fiber volumetric ratio. Volume change characteristics of fine-grained soils due to sequential thermo-mechanical stresses

Know-how of volume change characteristics, VCC, of the fine-grained soils, exposed to thermal stresses, is essential for design of various thermo-active structures. These stresses are known to induce excess pore-water pressure, Δu θ , in the saturated state of such soils, which in turn affects their compression and shear strength characteristics. Il progetto per il primo concorso, del 1884, redatto dall’allora giovanissimo Ernesto Basile (Palermo 1857-1932), rivela una grande perizia progettuale che trasforma il complesso programma funzionale in un austero edificio in stile neofiorentino. The development of light-sheet fluorescence microscopy (LSFM) has greatly expanded the experimental capabilities in many biological and biomedical research fields, enabling for example live studies of murine and zebrafish neural activity or of cell growth and division.
